Consequently, if i put in 1x 4GB PC3-L 12800s DDR3 1600MHz, my mac boots and works. :-( Out of nowhere this happened I have not taken it to the genius bar yet, google says it's a ram error. I've Zapped the PRAM and Reset the SMC, but nothing works I still get the 3 beeps when installing the correct RAM. I tried every combination using the new and old or the new only and still getting the 3 beeps. Ive tried using 3 different sets of 16gb memory (all known good. Although if I put the sticks in 1 at a time (either slot), it boots up just fine. The odd thing is, if I put in 2 8GB sticks (correct type), it just does the 3 beep sequence (memory error). I removed one and installed the old 1GB stick, and got the 3 beeps again. I have a 2011 Macbook Pro 13' 1278 i7 model. I then found out that these were the wrong RAM for my mac and so I removed the new RAM and bought and installed 2x 4GB PC3-8500 DDR3 1066MHz and got the 3 beeps again. Finally, if you are not sure, take one of your existing memory chips to your local computer shop and ask them to supply you with new memory compatible.
